Saks Fifth Avenue Club Consultant Cynthia Carr-Gardner on Holiday Party Fashions

‘Tis the season to make an entrance!

We all know that a reach for the Little Black Dress and a dusting of the tux may be the sartorial solution to every holiday fete, but let’s think outside your closet and step it up this year.  There’s a fresh look to rival those black stalwarts and now that tuxedos have been elevated to meet the demands of ‘creative black tie’, the challenge is to change up the basic frock.  Elegance is still the keyword and it’s found everywhere in this year’s holiday dressing.

  • Velvet is front and center of almost every collection. Dresses that drape and flatter, slim pants that pair with silky blouses, and an updated version of ‘le smoking’ jacket lends itself to both sexes with equal ease and grace.   Dolce and Gabbana showcases a jacquard-back dress shot with silver appliques that harken back to old Hollywood glamour.  Oscar not included…
  • It’s time to go hands-free with evening bags. Delicate, long chains or thin leather straps that go cross-body allow for balancing a champagne flute with ease.  Gucci’s floral shoulder bag makes its own statement with a delicate design and subtle chain – a pretty package to hold the essentials.

Lastly and never least, menswear is taking center stage. Consider the classic tux from Armani  that will take you anywhere, or expand your formal horizon with a midnight velveteen jacket and tux pants. Accent your outfit with all of the attendant formal accessories for a much-updated and elegant attitude.

‘Tis the season to celebrate a new look that reflects a New Year, all found at Saks Fifth Avenue located at  800 Boylston St in Boston’s Back Bay!
